A marriage announcement was published in the Hereford Times on Saturday 3rd October 1857 and also in the Hereford Journal on Wednesday 7th October 1857:-
"Sept. 14, at Baltimore, Maryland, U.S., by the Rev. Mr. Hughes, D.D., Mr. S. Prosser to Emma, daughter of the late Mr. Thos. Davies, all of Hay, Breconshire."
Samuel appears on page 327 of the 1858/59 Woods Baltimore Directory as "Proper Samuel, Book Agent, 127 n Fremont"
Samuel also appears on the 1860 Woods Baltimore City Directory as "Prosser Samuel, Book Agent, 355 Franklin".
He has not been found on the Baltimore directories for 1864, 65, 67, 68, 70, 73 & 76
Samuel Prosser died before 1880 ( ref.marriage certificate of Samuel George Reese & Ellen Kirk). On this certificate his occupation is recorded as "Druggist".
THE CHILDREN AND SECOND MARRIAGE
Edward Llewellyn and Emma Helen were both baptised in Hay on 10th July 1864. The record shows that Edward was 3 years old and Emma was 13 months. A report in the Staffordshire Sentinel newspaper (14/08/1869) shows that Edward died at Finney Green, Madeley on 4th August 1869 aged 8 years. He was buried at Madeley, All Saints on 6th August 1869.
Emma Prosser nee Davies next appears on the 1871 census in Amersham, Bucks. living with Charles Goodwin and with the name Emma Goodwin. Daughter Helen is with them together with a daughter Lucy Mary Goodwin aged 9 months.
Emma Prosser (nee Davies marries Charles Goodwin on 27th Sept. 1879 at St John's Church Bognor. He is 40 years old, bachelor and his profession is "Inland Revenue". Emma is also 40, widow.
Emma and Charles had two other children - Louisa Alleyne Catherine (birth reg Q1 1873) Hampstead Middlesex and Marion A. (birth reg Q2 1878 Uxbridge)
