Gilbert de Clare married firstly Alix de Lusignan in the spring of 1253. He had two children from this marriage - Isabel (b 10/03/1263) & Joan (b 1264).
Gilbert succeeded his father as 6th Earl of Hertford and Earl of Gloucester "the Red Earl" in 1262.
Joan, who is also known as Joan of England, is buried in the Priory Church of the Austin Friars, Clare, Suffolk.
