The third child was baptised Hugh. He was also known as Thomas Davies and there are two records where "Hugh Thomas Davies" was used - the baptism of his first child and on his gravestone. See also the additional information on his page.
There is a monumental inscription in the churchyard in St Mary's, Hay which reads "Two sons of James Davies of this town, plasterer, by Frances his wife - Henry October 24th 1808 8 months (and) William July 1811 2 years".
Note: There were two families living in Clifford where a John Jones is married to an Elizabeth, their children being baptised between 1765 and 1781. One marriage has not been found. A later marriage of John Jones to Elizabeth Whitney took place on 26/06/1770 at Clifford Herefordshire.
