Richard succeeded his father in 996 as Richard II "le Bon/l'Irascible" Duke of Normandy. After the death of his first wife he was bretrothed to Estrid, daughter of the King of Denmark, but eventually married Papia d'Envermeu. There are two children from this marriage - William and Mauger.
