There is a record of a Richard Tuthill marrying a Mary Mogg at St Peter's, Bristol on 21/05/1809. We haven't been able to prove that this is the right marriage but it looks promising.
No trace of Richard can be found on the 1841 census although his daughter Eliza Matilda is shown to be working in Bath as a Drapers assistant. His occupation as given on Eliza's marriage certificate in 1846 is Professor of Music. This is the only source of information on which he appears. He cannot be found on the 1851 census and no death is recorded in the PRO index.
There is a Harriet Tuthill born on 21/05/1828 and christened on 28/11/1830 at Christchurch Bristol - father Richard mother Mary (Source IGI)
Note that there is another Tuthill family on the 1841 census - James and
Tamsin who also had a daughter Eliza Matilda christened on 28/12/1823 who died
on 05/10/1832 age 9. Were James and Richard brothers?
Other children of this marriage are Jane Mirah christened 11/07/1819, Emma
Georgiana christened 22/07/1821 and possibly Mary christened 18/10/1807 all at
St. Augustine the Less (source IGI)
