William Rawlings was born at Box
On the south side of Smith's Farm and Back Lane (refer to Francis and Florida Tanner's web page) lies the Rawlins' Copyhold. At the time of the 1849 valuation William and his wife Jane had long since departed this life, but their daughter Rowena (possibly Florida's twin sister) was still alive. She had married Thomas Strong, a builder, and they were living in Box in 1841. She died in q3,1850. Links to a map of the copyhold and a description of the property can be seen here.
To the north of Bank House is Daniel Blatchley's Copyhold. Collatinus Rawlins was living here at the 1851 census and he is referenced on the 1849 valuation. Links to a map of the copyhold and a description of the property can be seen here.
