By the Permifsion of Almighty God I William Rawlings of the Parish of Box in the County of Wilts Stone Cutter being of sound and disposing Mind Memory and Understanding do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following First and Principally I commend my Soul to God who Gave it, and my Body I commit to the Earth and as to such Worldly Estate as God of his goodnefs hath bestowed upon me I Give and dispose thereof as follows that is to say I Give and Devise unto my son Collatinus Rawlings of Chelwood in the county of Somerset Yeoman All that my Mefsuage Tenement or Dwelling (House) wherein I now live Situate at Box aforesaid in the said County of Wilts with its Rights Members and Appurtenances together with the orchard there(un)to adjoining and belonging and Apple Mill and Prefs To Hold to him my said Son Collatinus his Heirs and Afsigns for Ever Also I Give and devise unto my said Son Collatinus All those two Pieces of arable Land and a piece of Coppice Wood Situate at Colerne in the said County of Wilts with their appurtenances which I lately Purchased of Sir Andrew Bayntun To Hold to him my said Son Collatinus his Heirs and afsigns for ever. Also I Give and Bequeath unto my said Son Collatinus All that Piece of Land and Stone Quarry Situate at Box hill in the said County of Wilts with their and every of their Apputenances which I also lately Purchased of Sir Andrew Bayntun being Leasehold for Ninety nine years determinable with three lives to hold to him my said Son his Executors Administrators and Afsigns for and during all the Term Estate and Interest which shall be to Come therein at my decease I also Give to him my said Son All that Copyhold Estate Situate at a place called Thickwood in the Parish of Colerne aforesaid in the said County of Wilts determinable on the Lives of Mr Charles Crook of the City of Bath Apothecary and Charles Crook his Son and the longest liver of them Charged and Chargeable and I do Neverthelefs charge the said Copyhold Estate called Thickwood with the Payment of the clear annual Sum of Fifteen Pounds unto my Daughter Meliscent wife of Thomas Aust for and during the Term of her natural Life if my Interest therein shall so long endure And also unto my Daughter Rowena the Sum of Fifteen Pounds during the Life or widowhood of my wife Sarah if my Interest therein shall so long endure clear of all Taxes and deductions whatsoever to be paid and payable half yearly The First Payments thereof respectively to begin and be made at the expiration of one year next (after) my decease And on Nonpayment of the said respective annual Sums of Fifteen Pounds and Fifteen Pounds in manner aforesaid I give to them my said Daughters respectively full Power and Authority to enter into and upon the said Premises called Thickwood and to distrain for the same as in Cases of rent reserved and in arrear is and shall be used and accustomed

And if no Distrefs or Difstrefses to be found on the said Premises or some part or parts thereof to Levy the same annual Sums to hold and Enjoy the Premises until the said several annual Sums of Fifteen Pounds and Fifteen Pounds respectively and all Costs and Charges incident thereto shall be fully paid and satisfied To hold to him my said Son Collatinus according to the nature of the Estate therein his Heirs Executors Administrators and Afsigns for all my Estate and Interest therein (Subject as aforesaid) I Give and Devise unto Anthony Drewett of Colerne aforesaid Maltster All that Piece of Freehold Land called Smiths Close Situate in the Parish of Colerne aforesaid in the Tenure or Occupation of Charles Wicks as Tenant to me And also all that Mefsuage or Tenement in Totslane in the said Parish of Colerne in the Occupation of James Clark And also one third part of the Garden Ground And also one third part of the Garden Ground held by samuel Hulbert with their and every of their rights Members and appurtenances To hold to him the said Anthony Drewett his Heirs and Afsigns for ever In trust to permit and Suffer my Daughter Meliscent to have receive and take the Rents Ifsues and Profits of all and singular the said Premises for and during the Term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease Then In trust for all and every the Child and Children which she may leave at her decease to be equally divided between them share and share alike as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants But in case my said Daughter Meliscent shall die without lawful Ifsue Then In trust for my said Daughter (Rowena) and Florida Wife of Francis Tanner their Heirs and afsigns for Ever as Tenants in Common I Give to my Daughter the said Rowena All that piece of Freehold Land Situate in Colerne aforesaid Called or known by the name of Bittons in the occupation of Thomas Aust and also all those two Cottages in Tots Lane in the Occupation of Anthony Pullen and Edward Butcher And also two thirds of the Garden thereto belonging And also two thirds of the Garden the holding of Samuel Hulbert with their and Every of their Appurtenances To hold to her my said Daughter Rowena her Heirs and Afsigns for Ever I Give to my Daughter Florida Wife of Francis Tanner all Those two Cottages with the Barn and Garden Situate at Thickwood in the Parish of Colerne aforesaid with their and every of their appurtenances To hold to her my said Daughter Florida her Heirs and afsigns for Ever I also Give to her my said Daughter Florida Wife of the said Francis Tanner All that Garden (Ground) I lately Purchased of the Charter House in London and Also a Piece of Land called Hillgrove To hold to her my said Daughter Florida her Heirs and Afsigns for Ever I Give to my Daughter Mary All Those two pieces of Land in the Town of Calne in the Occupation of John Hill and also those two

Cottages in the Occupation of William Cue and William Ball with their and each of their Appurtenances To hold to (her) my said Daughter Mary her Heirs and afsigns for Ever I give to my Wife Sarah All that Copyhold Estate Situate at Colerne aforesaid now in the Occupation of George Woodham and Francis Tanner for and during the Term of her natural life or widowhood and from and Immediately after her decease or Marriage which shall first happen I Give the same to my said Daughter Rowena for all my estate and Interest therein which shall be to come at the time of my decease. I give to Daughter Meliscent the Sum of One Hundred and Fifty Pounds to be paid to her by my Executor within Twelve Months next after my decease I Give to my Daughter Rowena the Sum of Seventy Five Pounds to be paid to her (by my Executor) within Twelve Months next after my decease I Give to my Daughter Mary the Sum of Five Pounds to be (paid) to her by my Executor within one Month next after my decease and to my said Wife (Sarah) the like sum of Five Pounds to be paid to her within one Month after my decease I Give to my Daughters Meliscent, Rowena, Florida, and Mary, and the said Collatinus one Guinea each in Gold which is now (left) in my House for that purpose I also Give to said Son Collatinus All my wearing apparel both linnen and woollen of every description I also Give to my Grandson William Rawlings my Silver Watch Silver Buttons and Buckles I Give to my Three Daughters Meliscent, Rowena, and Florida All my Household (Goods and) Furniture [Except such Goods as my said Wife brought with her at the time of our Marriage] The use of which I Give to her my said Wife and after her decease I Give the same to my Daughter Mary And all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels Securities for(?) Money Personal and Testamentary Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever Book Debts Stock of stone and Implements not herein before specifically disposed of after payment of my just Debts the Legacies herein before Given my Funeral Expenses and the Charges of proving this my Will I Give and Bequeath unto my said Son Collatinus and I do hereby constitute and appoint my said Son Collatinus Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament. And lastly I do hereby revoke all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witnefs whereof the said Testator William Rawlings have to this my last Will and Testament In Witnefs whereof the said Testator William Rawlings have to this my last Will and Testament contained in three sheets of Paper to the first two sheets set my hand and to this third and last sheet my hand and Seal this Ninth day of October One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixteen Signed Sealed Published and declared by the said Testator William Rawlings as and for his last Will And Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his Presence and in each other’s Presence have Subscribed our Names as Witnefses hereto:

Memorandum: - That by Indenture dated the Fourteenth day of January 1868 made between Thomas Milton of the first part Giles Tanner of the second part and Thomas Henry Allen Poynder Esquire of the third part All that piece of Land called Hillgrove or Hill Close was consigned(?) unto and to the use of the said Thomas Henry Allen Poynder in fee and the within writing was covenanted to be produced to the said Thomas Henry Allen Poynder his Heirs or Afsigns And so soon as the residue of the hereditaments comprised in the within Indenture shall have been sold and conveyed the said Giles Tanner his heirs executors administrators or assigns will deliver the within Deed to the said Thomas Henry Allen Poynder his heirs or assigns.
