ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Court of the Manor of Colerne met on 28th September 1796 and the following is an extract from this document:
"The homage who are sworn present that David Tanner late a Customary Steward of this Manor before this and since the last Court died seized of premises holden of this Manor and that David Tanner of Thickwood in the parish of Colerne Farmer son of the said David Tanner deceased is the next Takes by virtue of a Grant to him thereof made at a Court here holden the 14th day of October 1749 as by the roll of that Court may more fully appear.
And now at this court comes the said David Tanner and prays to be admitted to an allottment in lieu of One Tenement Curtilage Barn Garden and one small Close containing one acre more or less [and five acres of arable land]
(note in the paragraph says this is an error) with their Appurtenances situate and being in Colerne aforesaid within the Manor aforesaid (being parcel of a Tenement and half a yard land called Funces with the Appurtenances) late in the tenure of the said David Tanner deceased as by the Roll of the Court of the above ???? will appear To whom the Lords by their said Steward grant deliver ????? thereof by the Rod To have the premises aforesaid with the Apputenances to him the said David for and during the term of his natural life To hold of the Lords by the Rod at the Will of the Lords according to the custom of the said Manor Paying therefore to the Lords by the year 1.vz an Heriot when it shall happen and performing all other Services ??? before due and the said David is admitted Tenant to the premises and does to the Lords his Fealty"

The first son, David Tanner, died on 25/10/1798, just over two years after his father's death

The Court of Colerne did not mention David's death until they met on 23rd September 1802 and the following is an extract from this document:
"The homage who are sworn present that David Tanner a Customary Steward of this Manor as by a Roll of Court holden on the 20th day of September 1796 will appear some time since died seized in all Amount in lieu of One Tenement Curtilage Barn Garden and one small Close containing one acre (more or less) with their Appurtenances situate and being in Colerne aforesaid within the Manor aforesaid (being parcel of a Tenement and half a yard Land called Funces with the Apputenances) now in the Tenure of William Tanner of Colerne aforesaid Yeoman and that upon the death of the said David the same fell into the hands of the Lords.
And immediately afterwards comes the said William and takes out of the hands of the Lords the premises aforesaid to the use of the said William for the Lives of him the said William and Charles his youngest son aged 19 years and the lives of the longer liver of them To which said David the Lords by their steward deliver seizin thereof by the Rod To hold of the Lords by the Rod at the will of the Lords according to the custom of the said Manor paying therefore to the Lords by the year xxvs an Heriot when it shall happen and performing all other services henceforth And the said David gives to the Lords for a Fine for such an Estate and Entrance thereof had as is agreed between them is admitted Tenant to the premises and does to the Lords his Fealty"
