ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

William Elliott was buried in the parish of Whittlebury and Silverstone aged 87 years (the record states that his place of abode was Luffield Abbey, Extra-parochial). The Coventry Herald for Friday 25th March reported that "On Tuesday week, Mr Elliott of Luffield Abbey near Silverstone, a respectable farmer nearly 90 years of age and one of the oldest tenants on his Grace the Duke of Buckingham's estates, put an end to his existence by shooting himself. The rash act is alone to be attributed to imbecility from his advanced age." His death date is therefore 15th March 1825.

An Auction took place a few months after his death. It was held on 21st November 1825 at the premises of Richard Elliott, Luffield Abbey Farm - the reason given for the sale being that Richard was retiring. The auction was advertised in several newspapers including the Northampton Mercury on Saturday 19th November:-

There is a record of Rebecca Elliott buried on 02/11/1770 in Whittlebury. This could be William's wife as there are no more children in this marriage after this date.

Richard Elliott was buried on 06/11/1840. His abode was Silverstone

An auction of Richard's property was held on 8th January 1841. Some of this property was occupied by William Linnel as 'tenant at will' at a place called Bleak Hall. This William is probably Elizabeth's husband or maybe their son. The document also refers to the sitting in the north east aisle of the parish chapel which is now occupied by Mr John Linnell and his family (probably the son of Elizabeth).

The will of Richard Elliott was proved in London on 3rd February 1841 before the Judge by the oaths of Thomas Barford and Thomas Sheppard executors. In this will the following people benefited...
