James was a churchwarden of Yatton Keynell for 23 years (His name is inscribed on a bell
hung in Yatton Keynell in 1887).

licensed dealer in tea, coffee, tobacco and snuff" - see picture below.
Elizabeth's sister, Mary Ann Alderman, corresponded regularly with brother Joseph Alderman in Canada. Links to extracts of these letters can be found on Philip Alderman's webpage. These letters show that son James (known as Jim) emigrated to Canada in 1879 where his Uncle Joseph met him in Newbury. He married Jennie Hungerford and they had a son Olin but Jim suffered from poor health by 1899. He died on 24th October 1900 and after this cousin Ernest Cleverly (son of John Cleverly b.1830) and wife Clara moved in to help Jennie run the farm.
